Kapiti Coast District Council Swearing In Ceremony

Alan Milne in his first few days as Mayor has made some positive changes with regards to the Community Boards and the Swearing In Ceremony normally held after a each election.

All Community Board members were invited to meet at the Mayors house for a BBQ and to get to know one another. My personal thanks goes to Alan and Mary for there hospitality

On Thursday 25th October at the Southwards Car Museum a first of it's kind ceremony was held that brought all the newly elected local body members together as well as the families and friends. Our tangnata whenua from Ngati Raukawa and Te Ati Awa welcomed all the elected members with waiata(song)and korero (speeches)

The evening included some dancing and singing by some of our talented young people performing for the large crowd in attendance. Our CEO Mark Dacombe has a dry sense of humor that suited the evening well. The first council meeting was also held.

All elected members were asked to read a statement regarding there commitment to carry out the duties fro the next three years.

My Commitment to this new role

Signing my time away for the next three years?
